Chevy Equinox Reviews, Prices & Specs

Chevrolet Equinox comes in easy handling with SUV features that make it an obvious choice for the car buyers. The fuel-efficient Chevy Equinox has all the latest features like driver-assistance, turbo-diesel engine and great infotainment. However, what makes it underpowered is its 1.5L 4-cylinder engine. Chevy Equinox has also made mind to charge a huge premium amount for executive models.

The New 2019 Chevy Equinox

Chevrolet Equinox has been redesigned for 2019. It now comes with 3 packages including LS convenience package, LT appearance package and the lights & Bright package. Along with this, the new additions include LED head & taillights, 19-inch chrome wheels, molded running boards and a chrome grille surround. Even the backup camera has been enhanced with a high resolution lens and the 4 USB ports have been standardized. Moreover, the premium model comes with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control.

Chevrolet Equinox Pricing and Models

As per my opinion, one should go for LT trim, the mid range one with a front-wheel drive, heated exterior mirrors, power-adjustable seat with lumbar & HID headlamps. Also, Chevrolet offers a packaging that makes it hard for the rivals like Honda CR-V compete, which in other hand offers far better luxury, features and assistance at the similar price.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Highs:

  • Gutsy optional 2.0T engine
  • Athletic handling
  • Amazing steering

Lows:

  • Sluggish 1.5T & diesel engines
  • Not so comfy rides

The slow but efficient 4-cylinder engine shows a passive performance and builds 170hp when paired with the all-wheel-drive system so it takes a great energy to speed away the easy-to-drive Equinox. Chevy Equinox may offer an uncomfortable ride with the 19-inch wheels at the rough roads.

MPG and Fuel Economy

Chevy Equinox’s engine may not be speedy but its EPA fuel

In the race for the best fuel economy, downsized engines are all the rage. Chevy’s 1.5-liter turbo isn’t speedy, but it does offer attractive EPA fuel-economy ratings are great however; Honda CR-V outshines the Chevrolet Equinox in terms of acceleration and efficiency. Equinox offered 28 of its rated 30 MPG on a 200-mile highway fuel-economy test loop whereas the Honda CR-V rose to a 32 MPG. Also, interestingly, the Equinox saw a 30 MPG with a turbocharged 2L engine and a great 43 MPG with the diesel version.

Cargo Space, Interior & Infotainment

Highs:

  • Excellent interior
  • Plenty of space
  • Great  infotainment

Lows:

  • Poor-performance base model

Undoubtedly Chevy Equinox reviews are outstanding when it comes to the classy, spacious, quick and responsive interior. The interior is formed from long-lasting material and gracefully styled for long trips. The cabin comes with several cup holders, a 7-inch touch screen but many of the luxuries are offered at the high trim levels. Android Auto, Bluetooth, audio streaming, USB connectivity, input jack and Apple CarPlay are some of its standard features.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The Chevrolet Equinox has grabbed a 5-star rating from the NHTSA but missed accolades from IIHS because of the headlights that did not get a decent score.

The best part about the driver-assistance features is its:

  • Automated emergency braking
  • Lane-keeping assistance
  • Auto high-beam headlamps
