The concept of Mercedes EQC 4×4 Squared is here

Since, Mercedes announced the coming of its fully electric vehicles we have been waiting for the revelation of Mercedes’s first fully electric vehicle and now when they have shared the concept, we are more excited for it as from concept it shows that an electric vehicle can also be an adventurer vehicle.

The concept says that it will be better than the Mercedes Benz G-Class, has higher ride height, aggressive approach and departure angles, and ability to tow a trailer or host a rooftop tent. The concept is based on the EQC 400; it consists of an 80-kilowatt battery powering a motor at each axle to produce 402 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque.

Instead of traditional suspension, the EQC 4×4 squared has a set of portal axles, which moves the car axles higher than the center of the wheel hub and utilizes gears at each axle to connect everything. This gives more ground clearance and improves off-road capability. The ride height is increased from 5.5 to 11.5 inches that are more than standard G-class.

Some EV specific changes are done too like the interior sounds have been changed, external speakers that are in the headlights generate louder acoustic sounds.

Well, the EQC is not the first car that has got squared treatment, and not it will be the las. The first squared treatment was shown in G500 4×4 squared, it was a limited edition and has impressive off-road credentials. Second, one was a squared version of the Mercedes E-class all-terrain station wagon. Let’s just hope the production will be as fantastic as its concept.
